FRANCIS GUY - Master Tech Mechanic, Sales and Service Manager

Francis started working full time at Guy Brothers Marine in 1980 after graduating from Ryken High School. While working under close supervision by his father, he performed maintenance and repair of small engines such as lawn and garden equipment and chainsaws. After a couple of years of on the job training he started to pick up some of his fathers habits such as focus and patience. With what he learned at the shop he started forming his own habits and developed an interest in outboard motors.

In 1984, he attended Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC) Service School. The first class taught everything from the two-cycle theory of the operation to the theory and component make up of the ignition and carburetor system. At the end of the course there was a final test given where Francis scored 100%. Since that time, he has returned to OMC Service School every two years for training, product updates and service seminars. In 1987, while attending OMC Advanced Servicing School, the instructor based on his performance in class and product knowledge chose Francis to take a test for OMC Master Technician. This was quite an honor for Francis because only a few students in the class were chosen. He passed the test and was awarded a Master Technician Certification by OMC. This is a prestigious award only given to top mechanics that demonstrate outstanding service skills and product knowledge. In 1996, he was chosen again by the instructor and was awarded OMC Master Technician. In 1997, Francis attended service training school for Ficht Fuel Injection and is now factory trained in the latest technology that OMC uses in their engines.

Guy Brothers Marine has gained respect by OMC because of Francis’ professional ability in servicing outboard motors. Over the years, OMC has contacted Francis to assist them in solving service problems in the Southern Maryland Region. In 1995, the OMC Service Representative requested Francis to provide service support for the Redman Tournament Trail held at Smallwood State Park in Charles County Maryland. The OMC Corporation has rated Guy Brothers Marine as an "Elite Servicing Dealer". This is OMC’s highest rating for a service facility and only 10% of all OMC dealers ever achieve this status. Francis takes a lot of pride in what he does. Service has always been a priority with him and he will treat your engine as if it were his own.
